Black Walnut has been traditionally used in the treatment of intestinal worms, pin worms and round worms.
Active ingredients in the black walnut hull include ellagic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, sterols, tannins and iodine. Black walnut shells are very rich in vitamin C; and beta-carotene, B1, B2, and B6 are found in the leaves.
The tannins in the hull are antibacterial, anti-parasitic, anti-diarrhetic, anti-hepatoxic, chelator, anti-hypertensive and anti-ulcer.
Black walnut is especially useful in the treatment of skin diseases such as herpes and eczema. Black walnut is believed to be very beneficial as a remedy for poor digestion or diarrhea. It has been used as a natural laxative and is believed to be helpful for cleaning the intestinal tract.
