Health Boosting & Detoxing Herbs
Karen Morris
The very first www.herbsonlineshop.com 30 Day Challenge has well and truly begun!
If you’re not already participating, head on over to the herbsonlineshop Facebook page and join our members group, for daily inspiration and assistance with your 30 day challenge. Just to recap, this first challenge is all about detoxification (which essentially, just means eating healthy, nutritious, wholefoods). However, nutrition isn’t the only thing we are focused on during this challenge, the total challenge includes
– No sugar
– No diet soda
– No gluten
– No fried food
– No white bread
– AND 30 minutes of exercise a day
Before you think this challenge is not for you, let me give you some ideas about what this challenge DOES include!
– Endless fresh vegetables
– Delicious healthy fruit like blueberries and strawberries (in small amounts though, we still need to be cautious of sugar)
– Plenty of water to stay hydrated
– Satiating lean protein like chicken, fish, steak
– Whole grains
– Beautiful spices and fresh herbs to flavour your meals
– the endless health benefits of daily exercise
What should you expect on this detox challenge? Well, it will be tricky at first! Expect to feel a little run-down or sluggish as your body adjusts to no sugar. You will also feel a little out of sorts as your body begins the detoxification process and begins eliminating some stored toxins. However, by the end of the 30 days, sugar cravings will be almost non-existent, you will be lighter in your clothes and on the scales, less bloating thanks to the absence of gluten AND much more energy due to the daily boost of exercise, which will rejuvenate and enhance every aspect of your life.
Whist we get through the first tricky few weeks, I thought I would briefly touch on two wonderful herbs that will help you with this process. Both of these herbs are available right here online at www.herbsonlineshop.com.
Cinnamon
If you’re a member of the 30 Day Challenge Facebook group, you will have noticed an article I posted yesterday about the benefits of cinnamon! Not only does cinnamon taste delicious, but it is also a powerful source of many micronutrients and health benefits including
– Antioxidants
– Improved insulin sensitivity
– Lowered blood sugar levels
Cinnamon may also prevent against cancer as it “acts by reducing the growth of cancer cells and the formation of blood vessels in tumors and appears to be toxic to cancer cells, causing cell death” as explained by Healthline.com
If you are interested in introducing some cinnamon into your diet, you can find an array of cinnamon supplements right here.
Gymnema
Gymnema can be used to help with sugar cravings and can also act as a digestive stimulant to assist the body during the detoxification process. Gymnema truly is a powerful herb and works by blocking intestinal absorption of sugar while naturally lowering blood sugar levels. Gymnema also significantly reduces the taste of sugar, giving it an ideal anti-craving effect. You can find some Gymnema products here.
